are mechanical keyboards better

Why Are Mechanical Keyboards Better?

As a gamer, you know how important your peripherals are to your gaming experience. And you probably know that the right keyboard can create or break this experience. You may not be aware however that you have more choice in the matter.

Keyboards are classified according to the types of switch technologies they use and are widely separated into two main groups: mechanical keyboards and membrane keyboards. Read on to learn more about each of them.

What Is a Mechanical Keyboard?

Mechanical keyboards are the keyboards that most people imagine when they think of keyboards. They are the powerful keyboards for the classic look from the eighties. A more correct definition is that mechanical keyboards are manufactured with high-quality plastic key switches under each of the key keys.

Typing on a mechanical keyboard means pressing down on a key that activates an actual physical switch with a spring underneath.

So when you press the key you will feel it and hear a "click" sound to let you know that you pressed the key enough to register (and that you did not miss a letter or number).

Are Mechanical Keyboards Better for Your Hands

In the early 1980s, a company called Cherry used to develop and manufacture exclusively plastic key switches called MX Cherry switches which are often referred to as key stem color.

There are now several computer mechanical keyboard manufacturers who are developing these switches including Razer Logitech Corsair and others to make your hand feel better.

Each switch varies depending on some characteristics including the nature and feel of the switch, the amount of power required to operate it, and the preference of the application or user of the keyboard.

Customizing Keyboards

Besides switching mechanical keyboards switches can be customized in other ways. There are special game keys that offer space between 10 and 20 programmable keys. These provide similar customization and ergonomic designs found in other peripherals such as gaming mice and apply them to keyboard gaming functions.

You can also get backlit keys that allow LED light to pass through the key illuminating the legend. Using the HP OMEN 1100 mechanical keyboard for example each key glows deep red with its own dedicated LED light.

Another option is to replace the keyboard keys with certain materials such as durable plastic or molded sculpture so that captions are less likely to wear out.

Others want to make the keyboard particularly customizable by customizing keys with specific designs colors names shapes or logos.

Are Mechanical Keyboards Better than Membrane

Choosing the right mechanical keyboard for your gaming needs is a personal experience. Most gamers prefer mechanical keyboards because they are tactile durable and faster than membrane keyboards

At the same time, some gamers appreciate the smaller footprint portability and lower price points of the membrane keyboards. Others still want the better of both in hybridization.
