Sound not working windows 10

Updating the sound driver is the first thing you should try if your sound isn't working on Windows 10. This applies to laptop users who have a USB-connected external sound card, and to desktop users who have a sound card built into their motherboard. Try updating the driver. If the sound works with a specific application but not in Windows, or if the sound is distorted, you may need to update the driver again.

Windows 10 Sound Not Working

1. If you are having sound not working issues in your Windows 10, it’s because you are using sound set to “Default”. All other configuration options might need to be completely checked or redone.

2. Go to the Sound control panel and check the setting.

3. In the top right part of the panel is an “Advanced” tab. Here, check “Auto-detect Codec”, “Auto-detect playback settings”, “Auto-detect bit rate”, “Auto-detect source”, “Auto-detect output device” and “Binary compressor”.

4. Here you need to choose the configuration parameters you would like your device to be configured to. Click the red lock icon next to your profile and then click “Open profile…”.

5. From the “Open Profile…” window that opens select “Default Profile” and click “OK”.

Improve Sound Quality

What you need to do is take control of your sound. The biggest problem with sound systems in modern computers is they tend to have very limited settings. To fix this problem you have to go into the system settings and add some extra gain to the sound. This will help give your system more volume. To add gain you need to find the volume menu in Windows. Once you have found it and you are in the volume menu click on the gear icon and click the boost control.

This will add an extra gain control to the volume menu. You want to select the option called Sound then Add Gain. You want to check the box labelled Invert Bass.

Update Your Audio Driver

Windows 10 comes with a default Sound Settings in the Control Panel that can be altered or disabled and if you're experiencing problems with sound then the first place to look is the Control Panel. If it doesn't sound working the default sound settings, you can always change the setting, turn on/off the built-in speakers and listen using headphones or speakers plugged directly to your computer's ports and a speaker output.

First, select System > Administration > Update and security and then make sure your audio driver is updated. The built-in speakers should work just fine after this.

Enable Your Speakers on the Computer

Right-click on the desktop or Start Menu, select “Preferences” on the menu that pops up, click on the “Advanced” tab, and select “Speakers” on the right side of the window.

Create a default profile for your headphones

Open the Settings app on your computer and click on “Sound”, then click on “Advanced” and click “Monitors” in the right-hand column.

Now, select your monitor to see which monitors are available and open the information button.

Make sure that your monitors are on and are not a projector or DVD player, then select “Monitors”.

Select “Sound Devices” in the right-hand column.

Select your computer and audio devices that are active on your computer and enable your speakers.

If it still doesn’t work, make sure the speakers are turned on. You can do this in Task Manager.

Conclusion

If you're experiencing sound issues on your computer, the problem is likely caused by a driver or software conflict. Driver conflicts are quite common and can result from an outdated or improperly installed driver. If you think that a driver conflict is causing your sound issues, you should try updating your drivers or reinstalling your current drivers to see if that fixes the problem.
